Flashback: Europe - 3

Another three years have passed, just like that. The were quick, and turbulent, and i fear there will be more to come.

A year after the official dissolution of the Polish-Lithuanian commonwealth (which it itself only surprisingly lasted not nearly that long), the proclamation of the Imperial Confederation of Eastern europe brought a hope for stability in the east with the establishment of a new democratic power. Although those sentiments were quickly crushed when chaos broke out due to a number of factors. Some of which ranged from where the capital would be established, to which power base would hold power first. It got to the brink of war, and with Russia looming on their border, just waiting for a chance to attack, but i beat them to the punch.

On May 21st, 1523, civil riots break out in Vilnius and Krakow, and Kiev. Taking opportunity by the horns, i make my move and my armies march into confederation territory under the pretense of maintaining peace. To my surprise, my armies march, for the most part, almost completely unopposed, even welcomed in some areas.

May 23rd, 1523, the last of the Confederation's riot torn cities, Kiev, peacefully surrenders, and i meet with the three proclaimed governmental bodies (Polish, Lithuanians, and Moldavians), as well as the separatist Ukrainians.

Unable to determine a proper government choice, i offer a bold but fair choice: Annexation into the European federal union. Under the Union's flag, each faction could properly and democratically hold closely regulated elections, and essentially decide fairly which sectors are run by who. Very skeptical of my proposal, the vote is put towards the citizens, who overwhelmingly vote a 75% to 25% in favor of annexation.

On May 24th, 1523, The treaty of Union and Annexation is officially signed by Confederate and Union leaders, Unifying the Confederation and Union.

As a show of good will to the Russians (to further help my alliance cause), i cede several hundred miles of Russian majority land to the Grand Duchy, to give them a larger buffer zone around Moscow.

Unfortunately my political maneuverings with Russia have earned me some scorn in Scandinavia, as on April 1st of the same year, Sweden and Denmark sign a treaty of Mutual defense.

On the other hand, my relations with England and Scotland have been on a drastic rise. My diplomats have managed to broker a Treaty of Union between the two nations, and are in the process of union. Although Scottish separatists are holding out in the north, I have sent some forces to back up the English/Scottish Unionists.

Another year has passed, and the situation to my west have continued to deteriorate, Republican uprisings in Normandy within France have done nothing but to convince the French Monarch that I'm out to topple his country, and has only pushed them closer to the spanish, who by the way have called on their Royal Ties to Naples, and officially merged to form the Habsburgian Kingdom of Greater Spain; Who, on top of that, has gained the trust and support of the Pope in rome.

To my southeast, the Hungarians, on the verge of being overrun by the Ottomans, send envoys asking for assistance in their war effort. Realizing that a sudden war with the Ottomans could provoke action from opportunistic Spain and France, i decline military aid, but offer economic assistance, as well as a deal to (Through diplomatic means) stop the Ottoman advance.

and so, on July 5th, 1525, my envoy reaches Constantinople, and manages to negotiate a treaty between the two waring sides:
-Ottoman invasion/advance into Hungary ceases imediately
-The Ottoman Empire is allowed to keep all territory captured.
-Ottoman Empire is to be given monetary compensation by the Central European Federal Union for all war damages.
-Hungary is to be officially recognized as a protectorate of the Union.

Of course outrage flares up all around Hungary over the terms of the treaty, but in retrospect, i don't plan on allowing the ottomans to occupy Hungarian Territory for that long

July 8th, 1525, My newly designated capital of Würzburg, has finally finished the major stages of its "additions" and is ready for initial stages of re-population. Realizing physical centralization of the Union's government would be key in the event of any expansions in the future, i decide on the city of Würzburg as my new formal capital. After the war with the Imperialists, it stood almost obliterated from the face of the earth, having faced one of the most harsh bombardments of the war by my artillery units. The major government institutions have been moved, and relocated to the main premises within the city, the Presidential Mansion, Hall of Congress, and Supreme court. Residential skyscrapers have begun popping up over night.

Europe is on the verge of war, and the Federal Union is reaching its peak of power, i feel that before we hit our golden age, there will be much to suffer.

Dearl lord it took me forever to post this map!!! I don't know why, but there was a sense of dread and i didn't want to do it lol xD. Anyway, if you have any questions, feel free to ask, and I'm open to suggestions. I'll probably do one more after this, and then start on my next little "Project."
